Light Enhancement -How do you make an expensive light even better? Change its characteristics from a harsh distribution to a smoother glow around the room!
Bare compact fluorescent lamps do not have a light distribution as even as long, fluorescent tubes or frosted incandescent globes! They tend to be very bright near the lamp, but uneven around the tube because it is arranged as a spiral or several columns.
The cut-down plastic food container inside does not limit the light, it disperses it more evenly around the walls. The plastic must not be too opaque or light will be lost!
It's a great improvement for reading and craftwork in the library. Anyone with craft or handy home skills can improve their lighting without dealing with the electrical side of it.
However, halogen filament globes must not be used to avoid heating the plastic until it melts! Install a glass cover from a gas-lit camping lamp instead!
